Day 27 – God's Goodness

Day 27     |     God's Goodness

Today's teaching "What About Job" helps us overcome faulty beliefs that create negativity. Our book Cracks in the Foundation was written to dismantle "doctrines of men" that undo the power of God's word in our lives (see Mark 7:13). In my opinion, many conclusions about Job  cause cracks in our faith foundation. It is impossible to be positive when we think that God may actually dismantle our lives to test our character. If this was true, then God would need to be arrested for child abuse.

Bill Johnson, Senior Leader at Bethel Church, Redding, CA, is famous for saying, "God is in a good mood." This has helped lead to an understanding of Romans 2:4 where it says, the "goodness of God leads us to repentance." God's plan for us to get into the kingdom and advance in the kingdom is for us to hear good news and believe it. Yes, He can use pain, but that is not how He wants our eyes to be opened to His reality.

We cannot exaggerate God's goodness. When I get to heaven, He is not going to pull me aside and say, "Steve, I have something to tell you. I was not as good as you thought I was. You thought I was too good." That is ridiculous. In the garden, Satan attacked the goodness of God. He implied to Eve in Genesis 3 that God was really the problem in her life. The enemy of our souls is not only the accuser of the brethren, but he is the accuser of God to the brethren.

Many of his most damaging lies are designed to cause us to question that God is good. God is good! The gospel is good news. He is not our problem, but He is our total answer. "Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need" (Hebrews 4:16).

Unreasonably Optimistic,

“I know that you are God and nothing can thwart Your purposes!”
