Day 9 – The Truth

Day 9     |     The Truth

"Just who do you think you are, Steve?” I heard these words years ago. In response, I said, “Well, Lord, I am poor, joy-impaired, unsuccessful, disorganized, and always under attack from the devil.”

“Why do you think that is who you are, Steve?”

“Because that’s been my experience, so that is who I must be. Besides, most other Christians call themselves by their past, so I thought I was supposed to as well.”

I heard, “Let’s just laugh at that. That is ridiculous. You are not who your past says you are; you are who I say you are.”

“Good point.”

“Steve, I have another question. Why do you say every time you move forward in me, you get attacked by the devil?”

Well, the reason I say that is because every time I move forward in you, I get attacked by the devil.”

“That may true for you, Steve, but it is not truth. Why do you talk more about Satan’s attack than My protection? Don’t you understand that whatever you talk about much, you will see more of? You are seeing more attack because you are constantly speaking about how you are always being attacked.”

This conversation in prayer really rocked me. I was seeing like never before that “faith comes by hearing” (Romans 10:17) in both the positive and negative. This principle is also true for Romans 12:2 – “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” If I renew my mind with truth, I will transform my future into freedom and life. If I am constantly renewing my mind with lies, my future will be transformed into restriction and problems. Wow – I am kind of rambling, but I trust you are getting what I am saying. Blessings to you! More on this tomorrow.

A suggestion to do this fast successfully – Read or listen to material that motivates you toward good attitudes, perseverance, risk-taking and goal-setting.

Unreasonably Optimistic,

“I declare God’s word about who I am, what I have, and what I can do in Christ Jesus who gives me strength. I am established as His child in all ways and I shine in His light!”

(Job 22:8, Isaiah 60:1)
