Here are some thoughts from Wendy and I about supernatural marriage.
Ephesians 1:1-3 – “Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God. To the saints who are in Ephesus, and faithful in Christ Jesus: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.”
Ephesians 5: 31-33 – “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.”
Indeed marriage is supernatural – in that two become one. What a mystery! And here is good news – we have already been blessed with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places. We don’t need to beg God to do something as much as we need to access the blessings that have already been given to us.
Here are keys to access the supernatural marriage that is available to us.
1. The key of seeing each other as God sees you.
Paul wrote to the “saints” in Ephesus. He did not say to the “sinners” in Ephesus.
Who you call yourselves and each other is crucial. If you think you are sinners, you will sin by faith. If you think you are saints, you will believe your tendencies are to do right.
This is a huge factor in seeing a supernatural marriage. The sinner mindset leads to fear and control, while the saint mindset leads you to unlocking the greatness that is already in each other.
2. The key of hope.
Our hope level determines our influence level.
Our hopelessness about a problem is a bigger problem than the problem.
There are no hopeless circumstances, only hopeless people. Once people get true hope, the circumstance cannot stay the same.
3. The key of life-giving communication.
Ephesians 4:29 - "Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear."
Proverbs 18:21 - "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits."
The future is in the mouths of intentional speakers.
How vital this is in marriage to encourage, thank, express love, etc.
4. The key of relational priorities.
Matthew 6:33 – "Seek first His righteousness and kingdom and all needed things will be added."
Only the relationship with the Lord can come before your relationship with each other.
Supernatural life and provision flow as we align ourselves with God’s priorities.
5. The key of joy and laughter.
We have heard it said that the family that prays together, stays together; but I propose that the family that laughs together also stays together.
We bless you today. May your relationships be full of fresh hope, laughter and heavenly perspectives.
