Yesterday on Thanksgiving, I, Duncan (Steve’s Dog), woke up from a 10 hour nap and went outside over by the garage when all of a sudden I heard a car pull into our driveway. IT’S DAD’S INTERNS! Yes! Who knew that Thanksgiving was going to be the best day of my life?
Dad and Mom’s interns all came over to play with me. I was able to chase a ball as the interns played keep away from me with my Dad. I was able to get the ball a couple of times but it was a little unfair. Let’s just bark at that. I think I need to work on setting healthy boundaries, because if I keep this up I might pass out from exhaustion. Let’s just bark at that. After we were done playing, I watched Dad play basketball with some of his interns and then….what the bark!? What’s that smell? Turkey!
Everyone rushed inside and just as I was about to join them, the door slammed in my face. They kept me out. I had to watch from the window while everyone else had Turkey, Ham, pie…why does no one love me!? Let’s just bark at that. Just when I thought there was no hope, I hear Dad say my name. My ears perked up as I saw my Dad walking towards me…what does he have in his hands? Is that….FOOD! I knew my Dad would hear me! He set the food down, and I started digging in when I realized something different. My food tasted amazing. What was in this? Turkey juice! I love turkey! I ate and ate as everyone else played Catch Phrase inside.
What a day! I chased a ball, jumped in leaves, fell in the pool, had a lot of drool, ate some food, drank about half of the water in the pool and then passed out, wondering if I would ever move again. Let’s just bark at that. Woof Woof! What an amazing day to spend with close friends who love me and are thankful for me.
Today got even better! Dad and mom's kids came from Reno and Redding for the Family Thanksgiving Day! That included 5 of the 6 grandchildren who drop food on the floor and hold it about nose high for me! More laughter, more people, and more turkey juice in the dog food!
These have been the best days of my 22 month life. I’m the most blessed dog on the planet. I want to leave you all with this powerful statement of faith. For Ephesians 2:6 says [my wording], “We are seated in Heavenly Doggy places in Christ Jesus.” Ephesians 1:3 “we have all Doggy blessings in Christ Jesus.” I’m so thankful that whenever I need anything, all I have to do is speak up and bark!
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
