I (Steve) remember in the 90's finding a cassette tape by Joyce Meyer where she said she wrote ten declarations of truths and promises God made real to her. She said these declarations morning and night, and they all came true in her life. I said, "I'm going to try that." I did, and it changed my beliefs, and then my life. I can say this changing of my words was instrumental to breaking off of my self-limiting beliefs.
I have taught on declarations for years and have heard testimony after testimony of how adding this habit has been transformational to all kinds of people. I'm so convinced of the power of declarations to unlock destiny.
I joined with my team to write a book on it. Each day includes a unique list of Declarations, Scriptural references, 2 lies to break agreement with, and 3 pieces of wisdom/action steps to add to the declarations.
Here are portions from Day 1 of the book Declarations on Joy and Laughter:
"The Joy of the Lord is your strength." (Nehemiah 8:10)
"A merry heart does good, like medicine." (Proverbs 17:22)
"In your presence is fullness of joy." (Psalm 16:11)
The Declarations (say these aloud):
I am an outrageously joyful person.
My joy level is increasing daily, and I have been created to experience fullness of joy.
Even in the midst of uncertainty, I live from a place of unshakable joy.
My joy levels do not depend on circumstances or how I feel.
I naturally know when to "weep with those who weep" and "rejoice with those who rejoice."...
Let's laugh at this lie about joy:
The Lord is not overly concerned with us experiencing joy...
Some Wisdom to Add to Declarations:
Choose Joy - Just as we choose to forgive or love, we can choose to be joyful. It is a spiritual muscle we can develop in our lives...
