Crucial Moment - You Need to Make a Decision But Are Having "Analysis Paralysis"
Read this excerpt below from the book, Crucial Moments:
It’s decision time and you are a mess. You have no idea what to do. “Analysis Paralysis” has engulfed your brain. The deadline for an important decision is looming, creeping ever closer. You make spreadsheets, argue every angle within your head, and still can’t seem to hold on to a conclusion for more than thirty minutes at a time. You have asked for counsel from all of your wise friends, yet there is no agreement amongst them. Anxiety and fear are knocking at your door, making it hard to think clearly. A decision has to be made but you feel paralyzed.
WHAT TO GET EXCITED ABOUT
You get to see how God loves to highlight His kids to the world through their amazing decisions and choices.
You have the opportunity to tap into one of the most profound promises in the Bible- that God will give us wisdom if we ask Him for it.
This is a chance to look to the past, to your previous testimonies and those of others, and apply those lessons to this new situation.
STRENGTH THROUGH SCRIPTURE
Isaiah 30:21 “Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’Whenever you turn to the right hand, or whenever you turn to the left.”
Psalm 51:6 “Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.”
James 1:5 “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”
Ask God in the secret place – God speaks to us through dreams, other people, our imaginations and visions, and through His Word. When making a decision, it’s good to work out your feelings about each option with God, but be sure to give much more time in prayer to listening. Start out with thanksgiving and praise. Remember, follow your peace and favor by paying attention to what Holy Spirit IS saying.
Ask God for wisdom – Wisdom is always good, and He always gives it. If you feel like you are not getting much of a solid answer from God in your special time with Him, maybe He wants to see what you come up with on your own. In this case, an extra helping of wisdom and discernment is a good idea.
Enlist the counsel of fathers and mothers in your life – We are to live life in community for a reason - so we can help each other through shared wisdom and testimony. Find someone in your life who walks closely with God and seems to be an incredible decision maker. Present your situation to them objectively and don’t be offended if they ask you lots of questions.
God always shows up when I face an important, difficult decision
There is ALWAYS a solution.
I make incredible decisions, and my ability to do so is an encouragement and testimony to others.
