1. Be the the most encouraging person you know.
Because encouragement is foundational to New Covenant prophetic ministry (1 Cor. 14:1-3), when we encourage others we attract revelation and are able to prophesy the heart of The Lord.
2. Understand that your words have creative powerIn the same way that God created the world by speaking, our words create worlds.
Not only can prophesy predict the future; it can also create it! When we prophesy, Angels are activated to fulfill God's word (Psalm 103:20).
3. Believe that God is always speaking.
Jesus said, "man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from God (Matthew 4:4). God is always speaking and we can lean into His voice through intimacy with Him. Expect to hear His voice!
4. Be intentional.
You don't need to wait until you, "feel the anointing" before you give someone a word. Ask God to help you see people after the Spirit. Then, practice giving at least one person a word every day. It could be a picture, an impression or an encouraging Bible verse.
5. Give yourself a word!
1 Samuel 30:6 says that, "David encouraged himself in The Lord". As leaders we need to know how to speak God's word over ourselves. This can include promises found in scripture, repeating key prophetic words we have received from others, or getting something fresh from The Lord!
