I hope you had a wonderful weekend full of love and connection. I am excited to begin week two of The Feast with you. This week will be focusing on two scriptures – Ephesians 2:5-6 and Romans 8:11.
“Even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ, and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”
“But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you."
One of my pastors, Kris Vallotton, once said, “If we believe we are sinners we will sin by faith.” When I heard that, I realized that freedom from sin does not come by trying harder, it comes by believing something different about myself. It is not enough to just believe that you are dead to sin; you need to see yourself as alive TO God and raised with Christ.
Do you really believe that you are alive to God? Or do you believe that you are something dead trying to relate to God? Is your relationship built on how dead you are or how alive you are?
Instead of trying to kill your old nature and prevent sin, focus on your new nature. See yourself as alive to righteousness. Focus on training your brain to be aware of God in yourself, drawing yourself to those things that are pure, healthy, and full of grace.
Meditate and imagine what the power of life can do in you and through you. Stop trying to kill yourself and discover what the resurrected life looks like.
Blessings on your journey,
