The purpose of Jesus as foretold by the angel to the shepherds is eye opening. “Behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be for all the people” (Luke 2:10). It foretold the truth that the gospel is good news, and when we hear good news it will make us glad.
In addition to this, we are told that the God of hope will fill us with “all joy” when we believe (Romans 15:13). Increasing joy is one of the evidences the renewing of the mind is working. Joy is also our strength (Nehemiah 8:10), one third of the kingdom (Romans14:17), a key aspect of Jesus’ nature (Hebrews 1:9), medicine which produces health for us (Proverbs 17:22), the second fruit of the Spirit listed (Galatians 5:22), the result of experiencing the anointing (Isaiah 61), and to be evident in our serving God (Psalm 100).
Joy and laughter are a main part of our ministry because they have been crucial for our own breakthrough from hopeless and religious mindsets into victorious mindsets.
