Dear Powerful Pastor,

JOY TO THE WORLD!

It can be easy to walk in Joy when everything is lined up for us (family life is thriving, church is flourishing, finances are great), but how can we remain joyful all year round even in the midst of uncertainties?

5 Keys to Remaining Joyful in a Time of Drought

1. Laugh - It is the Best Medicine
“The One enthroned in Heaven laughs” (Psalm 2:4). Laughter is medicine for your life and helps us gain a higher perspective. When we laugh we’re actually letting go of something on the inside that can be holding us back. Let’s take more time to laugh!

2. Remain in His Presence
“In His presence there is fullness of Joy” (Psalm 16:11). Our joy will increase as we move into greater realms of His presence. When we remain in His presence we get a greater revelation of His nature.  Knowing that God is full of joy enables us to partner and be filled with His limitless joy.

3. Know Joy is Our Strength
“The Joy of the Lord is my strength” (Nehemiah 8:10).  We have the ability to build our joy muscles even in the midst of opposition.  The more we build our ability to remain joyful, the more it becomes a weapon against the enemy.  Here is a video on building the joy of the Lord as your strength. And remember, we need joy for strength to get through the challenge (not as something we have after the challenge is over).

4. Know Now is the Time
"Rejoice in the Lord Always" (Philippians 4:4). There is one thing I’ve realized: there is no convenient time to be joyful.  There is always a good reason why today or tomorrow will be inconvenient for me to steward joy.  When we can activate the oil of gladness in our lives it will leak onto everyone around us; especially those we are leading. For more on this, check out my blog “Now is the Time to be Joyful” here.

5. Delight in the Lord
“Delight yourselves in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4).  God has called us to walk with Him, not for him. He longs to bless our dreams and desires. Declaring His goodness and faithfulness in a season of drought produces a harvest of joy and thankfulness.

Let’s declare this today: I remain outrageously joyful all year round! The joy of the Lord is increasing in my life daily! I release over you an impartation of Joy and over those you are leading throughout this Christmas season.

Blessings,
Steve Backlund
