"Increasing the Likelihood"
By Steve Backlund
“This is going to be a powerful day!” The moment we say this, the chances of it being a powerful day increase. Saying it does not guarantee it will happen, but it is now more likely to happen than before I said it.
We all have habits and systems that increase the likelihood of good things happening.
Examples of these are:
We put reminders on our phone
We attend church regularly
We bring a water bottle to work
We have praise music playing when we turn our car on
We take regular walks with family or friends
We eat dinner around the table as a family
These don’t guarantee positive results but the percentage chances of blessings resulting from them will increase.
Powerful people are intentional. They put things in their life and calendars to “bump into” that help bring fulfillment, health, strong relationships, and increased impact.
Some of the special things I do include:
Having my faith declaration clicker next to my coffee maker in the morning
Paying my assistant $3 for each goal I did not reach in the previous week
Having a Fitbit watch on my wrist and having regular step competition with my daughter
Writing at least five minutes a day
Having an annual physical and two dentist visits per year
What do you need to add to your life to increase the likelihood of fruit and breakthroughs? Which key areas of your life do you want to see an important upgrade? It could be your finances, family, health, schedule, or something else. As you determine this, begin with the end in mind. What changes do you want to see? How do you want to feel about these areas? Then ask Holy Spirit to show you systems, declarations, beliefs, and keys to taking these areas of your life higher.
As I write this, I am excited about what you will do in the days ahead to see change. Even if you only start to speak life over the key areas of your life, that alone increases the likelihood of what you want to see happen, but I know you will get other directions as well.
Let’s give God a lot to work with in this season by putting great things to bump into in our lives and schedules.
