Three Powerful Reasons We Make Declarations
Here are just three reasons why we make declarations:
Declarations direct our lives toward what we speak –
“Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. Even so the tongue” (James 3:4-5). We are pulled in the direction of the words we speak. Our words are indeed a rudder to cause us to be directed toward the things we say. What destination do you want to be at in life in five years? Then declare it now, and the “ship” of your life will be directed toward that. I (Steve) had to say “I write books” before I ever wrote one. As I spoke this, the rudder of my life directed me toward book writing. As we consider this, it is important to know that the ship of your life includes you and your descendants. Many of your declarations will be fully fulfilled through your lineage (both physical and spiritual).
Declarations are instrumental for us to enter our promised land –
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success” (Joshua 1:8). Joshua was instructed to implement non-stop speaking (declaring) of truth as he made final preparations to possess what God had already given through promise. Joshua is our example to use declarations as a means to possessing the promises of God.
Declarations help us call those things that are not as though they are –
“(As it is written, ‘I have made you a father of many nations’) in the presence of Him whom he believed—God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did” (Romans 4:17). God’s method of bringing life to dead places, people, nations, gifts and calls is for someone to say it is alive when it still looks dead. (The essence of faith is to believe before we see, not see to believe.) When we declare things alive that look dead, we become like God in “calling those things that are not as though they are.”

“Nothing happens in the Kingdom unless a declaration is made.” Believers everywhere are realizing the power of declarations to empower their lives. You may be wondering “What are declarations and why are people making them?” or maybe, “Aren’t declarations simply a repackaged ‘name it and claim it’ heresy?” Declarations answers these questions by sharing 30 biblical reasons for declaring truth over every area of life. Steve Backlund and his team also answer common objections and concerns to the teaching about declarations. The revelation this book carries will help you to set the direction your life will go. Get ready for 30 days of powerful devotions and declarations that will convince you that life is truly in the power of the tongue.
